AT THE HELM OF GODREJ & BOYCE’S (G&B) day-to-day operation is Anil G Verma who has spent close to four decades with the company in various capacities -- right from sales, marketing and supply chain to HR, IR, administration, and now executive director and president -- as part of the organisation’s grooming process for future leaders.
Since the day he joined the company, G&B has grown substantially at 150x over the years to now clock a Rs11,500-crore turnover. Under his watchful eyes, the company over the years has augmented many of its portfolios while exited certain areas of business. Today, G&B’s manufacturing footprint straddles all over India; and it has export-oriented manufacturing units in a few locations.
While many of these developments unfolded in front of him, Verma says when he looks back at the last four decades, what springs to his mind is not only what has changed but more importantly what has not. What is also true is that our core has not changed. This is what stands out for me. Our pioneering spirit lives on. We thrive on solving complex technical issues that confront manufacturing.”
At G&B, he says it’s their ethics and values that drive all their decisions. “We deeply care about the impact our products and processes have on the environment. We serve the communities we live in and try to be a role model corporate citizen wherever we are.”
Not being a listed company with a long legacy of owners running the show, G&B is often perceived as a family-run organisation.
