I worked in a bakery as a teenager, which meant getting up very early on Saturday mornings and standing on the main road in the dark, waiting for my lift. My very first pay was £6.60 in cash but it fell out of my pocket and into the loo. The upside of working in a bakery was that we got to take the leftover cakes and doughnuts home, so the rest of my family loved me working there.
