Sussanne Khan, Bipasha Basu and Malaika Arora Khan talk to Sandipan Dalal about how they’re making luxury affordable to fellow fashionistas.
What do Sussanne Khan, Bipasha Basu and Malaika Arora Khan have in common? They’re part of a special tribe of style icons focused on making exceptional design—from clothes to furniture—available to a wider audience. Each is collaborating with the shopping portal TheLabelLife.com to deliver luxury at smart prices. “I was always aware of the dearth of affordable luxury brands,” says Malaika. “So, I was excited to collaborate with them and come up with a fashion line.” Their work with these online brands is not restricted to design or sales, but also taps into their strengths as influencers. Bipasha says, “When I was starting out in my career in 2000, I was lucky to have a few mentors guide my style. Today, I help women build their signature style statement.” When Sussanne is not working on luxury design projects and sourcing couture décor pieces from around the world, she is creating her own collection of hard-working furniture. “My aim is to inspire good living with good quality at an affordable price,” she says. They tell Femina about how they’re bridging the gap between economy and luxury, and what they consider truly precious in life. Edited excerpts:
