The Hero Returns… Raghuvendra Singh Chats With Govinda Who’s Ecstatic About Having Played the Lead Once Again
Having spent three decades in films, his career has seen dizzying heights and devastating lows too. His latest film, Aagaya Hero was his ambitious return to leading roles. Though the film may not have brought in moolah, it did excite his diehard fans. Well in his 50s, he’s shown that rare ability to reinvent and risk it all like a newcomer. A superstar for all seasons, Govinda makes some sensational claims and appraisals here. The original Hero No 1 gets candid with Filmfare...
What made you play a hero once again in Aagaya Hero?
It’s a pure Govinda chhap cinema. I’ve retuned as a hero after 15 years. In between I did Bhagam Bhag, Partner, Happy Ending and Kill Dil. They were not hero roles. When you start playing a hero in your ‘50s, people may react differently to you. Rajinikanth is doing so well playing a hero even in his 60s. When your story is right, your role is right it works. Sadly, people can harm your film on social media. They invest their priceless time on these platforms and ruin careers. All I can say is that I made an out an out entertaining film.
Your forte has been massy entertainers…
