The globetrotter welcomes hello! Into her rarefied mansion in pune – the decade old abbey’s palace with heavy european accents – as she plays muse to the latest couture creations. As day melts into dusk, we discover a world that celebrates both style and spirit....
She has a gossamer presence; light as a feather, her voice hushed, her accent, genteel. One would never guess that a little Bhosale is taking shape behind her dashboard abs, as she slips onto eight inch stillettos and a host of delicate labeled silhouettes. “I religiously work out and do my yoga, for at least an hour each morning,” she later reveals, even while laughing, “I think I just made history, doing a fashion photoshoot while five months pregnant!” We laugh along, but not without a sense of wonder. Somehow, Shweta Bhosale doesn’t skip a beat. She is an astute hostess, sensing when our energies are flagging and immediately mobilising her staff to bring us caffeine fixes. That she has a sizeable number of people to manage her estate, goes without saying.
Living in this palatial home with her grandma-in-law, (Shalini Bhosale) pa and ma-in-law, (the flamboyant Avinash and his gracious wife, Gauri Bhosale) with husband Amit and daughter Amaira, Shweta still seems to have these massive and well appointed spaces entirely to herself. “My in-laws are by and large traditional but they don’t dictate, they are progressive and we all give each other our required space.” Fascinatingly, the Bhosales have been low key in the media, even while they have close ties with the nation’s corporate families. Not only does Shweta have an inner view on India’s beautiful people, she is a seasoned host of house parties. In fact, as a young couple, she and Amit sometimes set up clubbing nights in the quaint chopper hangar of their front garden, designed with musical instruments, musical legends and an impressive DJ booth and bar.
