Dazzling in diamonds, Hollywood action girl Milla Jovovich on marriage, movies and why she can’t wait to be a mum again Jovovich.
Milla Jovovich arrives at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc on the French Riviera dressed down in baggy jeans, a stripy T-shirt and flats with her glasses on, joking that this is her Lois Lane look. “In a minute, I’ll be Superman,” she laughs. True to her word, within the hour she has been transformed and is vamping it up in a glittering gold dress and towering stilettos by Yves Saint Laurent and some fabulous Bulgari gems.
Hanging out with Milla is a lot of fun. She’s not starry or grand, chatting away while checking messages on her phone.
Born in Kiev, the 38-year-old made her mark in modelling, acting and fashion designing, starring in the blockbuster Resident Evil films and The Fifth Element as well as shooting campaigns with legendary photographers Herb Ritts and Richard Avedon. But next on her agenda is a far more personal goal – giving a sibling to her daughter Ever, six.
“I want to have a baby and that is my No. 1 priority,” says the actress, who’s married to British director and producer Paul Anderson, with whom she lives in the US. “If I don’t do it now, it will get more difficult the older I get.
“I have been saying no to everything. There is talk of doing another Resident Evil at the end of the year, but I don’t want to do anything before that. I’m happy being a stay-at-home mum. Mum world is amazing.
“When I’m home, not feeling anxiety or stress over work, I’m a different person. My relationship with my husband becomes so much closer, too, when I’m relaxed, and that is really important if you want to have another baby.
“Ever is always talking about how much she wants to be a big sister,” continues Milla. “I have to do it before she is too old to enjoy it. I don’t have all the time in the world to think about it.”
