Do you remember when your mum used to make you sit down and eat breakfast before school because “it’s the most important meal of the day?” Well, it turns out that she’s got the experts backing up her argument!

With diets such as intermittent fasting being hailed as effective ways to lose weight, it’s understandable that some people think skipping brekkie could be the key to staying in shape. However, research shows that sitting down for that first wholesome, hearty meal plays a very big part in maintaining your figure.

US-based Dr Brian Wansink says research has found that “most slim people don’t employ restrictive diets or intense health regimes to stay at a healthy weight”.

“Instead, they practise healthy habits like not skipping breakfast and listening to inner cues,” he adds.
