The actress gets candid about her career, ageism in Hollywood and her new comedy, Poms.
Celebrities often say aging in Hollywood can be difficult. But screen legend Diane Keaton begs to differ. “I think it’s a great time to be a bit older in this industry,” says the 73-year-old Oscar winner, whose career continues to soar. “Things are changing. Older women are getting more roles — there’s still [plenty] of work out there for us!”
Diane’s latest film, Poms — which follows a group of senior women who decide to start a cheerleading squad within their retirement community — proves just that. “It’s an interesting movie that just [feels very] real,” says Diane, who stars alongside veteran actresses Rhea Perlman, Jacki Weaver and Pam Grier. “[It] relates to real life — that’s what makes all the difference.” As she celebrates the flick’s release, Diane opens up about her life today.
