Marothi’s Turfloop talent competition offers hope to cash-strapped Rachel and Leshole.

Although varsity-dropout Rachel (Lesego Marakalla) swore on her father’s grave that she would never make amends with her ex-sugardaddy Marothi (Macks Papo), she finds herself dining with him at Capsy’s restaurant on Wednesday 20 December. “Believe it or not, Marothi is the only person who can get under Rachel’s skin,” explains Lesego. “When he calls her, she feels compelled to hear him out and with some convincing, she agrees to meet.” With Rachel’s sharp mind and organisational skills, Marothi begs her to help him with his New Year’s Eve talent competition and she agrees, explains Lesego. The actress adds that her character “needs the money because she’s broke. Rachel makes it crystal clear to Marothi that it’s just business. She wouldn’t rekindle her love with the local conman even if he was the last guy on Earth!” But spending time with the wealthy businessman will remind her of the lavish lifestyle that she’s missing…
ON THE FENCE
Rachel finds herself spending more time with her ex-boyfriend than she had expected by Friday 22 December. “It’s bringing back the old spark that was once in her heart,” says Lesego. But for once, Rachel is going against her emotions by keeping the promise that she made to her mom Celia (Shoki Sebotsane) in January 2016: to never date Marothi after he had stalked her family. While Rachel needs money to start the New Year, she fears that falling for Marothi again will make her look dumb in front of her family.
