Sex & The City’s returned to our screens but how would the loved-up comedy deal with 2017’s dating scene?
When it comes to hitting the sweet spot with original shows, the guys behind 90's comedy Sex & The City (1998-2004) were on point. The ground-breaking series centred around four strong and independent women who were coming to terms with their careers, sex lives and all the haute couture fashion available in New York City in the early 2000's. And while there’ve been a couple of knock-offs – like Lipstick Jungle (2008-2009), Girls (2012-current) and Younger (2015- current) – they’ve all fallen short. Sex & The City (SATC) is getting a second run on M-Net Edge (in four-episode binge slots) but is it as relevant today as it was almost 19 years ago?
You’d better believe it, “although times have changed a lot,” laughs series star Sarah Jessica Parker, who played newspaper columnist Carrie Bradshaw. To find out just how different 2017 is to 1998 when the series came out, here’s an update on what the ladies’ lives would be like in modern times…
