At first it doesn’t cross waitress Wendy’s (Michelle Beling) mind that her regular customer Simon (Daniel Janks) has his eye on her. He might be impressed with the food at The Rec but Wendy is the reason he keeps coming back for more. He compliments her barista skills and professionalism, taking every chance he gets to ask for her number. “She’s unaware that he is trying to flirt with her,” says Michelle, whose character is fobbing it off as her customer being sweet. Wendy’s last involvement with a man was a disaster. She had an affair with her late brother-in-law Hendrik (Gérard Rudolf) throughout 2018, which caused a rift between her and her sister Lalage (Elma Postma). Lalage found out about their sordid affair in April this year, just two months before her husband’s fatal heart attack in June.
