SHOCKING MURDERS, A SISTER'S ANGUISH ‘Every day I pray FOR ANSWERS'

Just three years apart in age, Kelsi and Liberty “Libby” German often spent hours talking in the room they shared in their Delphi, Indiana, home. After their parents’ divorce, the siblings were being raised by grandparents Becky and Mike Patty and often sat on their beds dreaming about the future – Kelsi wanted to be a journalist; Libby, a pathologist or a science teacher. “We were so close,” Kelsi says.

So when Libby, 14, had a Monday off from school, it was her big sister she asked to drive her and best friend Abigail “Abby” Williams, 13, to a popular wooded area outside town, where the eighth graders planned to hike the Delphi Historic Trails. Kelsi, then 17, couldn’t join them – she had a shift at the local Dairy Queen [US chain restaurant] – so she dropped them off. “Lib got out of the car, turned around and told me she loved me,” Kelsi says, “and then I drove away.”
