It’s good to have a vision, isn’t it? Recently, the Royal Borough set up the Partnership for the Regeneration of Maidenhead and launched a 20-year action plan dedicated to rejuvenating the town centre, which is great news for both the people who live here and for visitors.
The High Street and Nicholson’s Centre is changing all the time, and offers popular shops as well as the unique Craft Coop social enterprise, which is full of unique handcrafted products, plus there’s an eclectic mix of restaurants, new cafés, such as Bakedd and Strawberry Grove, and pubs and bars, like the Coppa Club.
Entertainment-wise, there’s the Odeon Luxe Cinema and the new state-of-the-art Braywick Leisure Centre, which has just opened. It includes a ten-lane swimming pool, training and splash pools, a 200-station gym and a large sports hall. The annual Maidenhead Panto will be held at Braywick Leisure Centre this Christmas.
Built on the site of an ancient farm on the outskirts of Maidenhead, Norden Farm Centre for the Arts is a buzzing hub of entertainment and has a relaxing café bar. Thrill-seekers will love Absolutely Karting’s glow-in-the-dark adventures, and there’s many an opportunity to play a spot of crazy golf.
Smart offices and company headquarters are also cropping up all over the town, and new residential developments are appearing, such as Countryside’s Watermark – and Maidenhead is set to get an upgraded train station too.
