Ace designer MASABA GUPTA was recently in town to launch her fifth boutique at Phoenix Market City. Citadel speaks to the style icon, who candidly reveals what it takes to make it in a man’s world.
The legendary designer Giorgio Armani had made an interesting statement – ‘The difference between style and fashion is quality.’ We demand that both have quality. And Indian fashion designers in recent times have made this statement a little better, by making both fashion and style extremely high with quality. And the young crowd these days has been chanting one name in this regard – Masaba Gupta.
Ask any discerning fashion connoisseur and there are chances that she might be a Masaba Gupta fan. Creative and practical, Masaba just knows what is right for the market and the buyers. Unconventional is the word that best describes her. Her designs are a great amalgamation of traditional and modern, with a great hint of boldness. Women’s ethnic wear with unique prints and use of rich embroidery is her forte. Her eye-catching prints including motifs have been her trademark, along with feminine outlines. We can safely say that Masaba has slowly risen from being a rising star in the Indian fashion industry to now being a stalwart in the industry followed by many.
She was in town to launch her fifth boutique at the very up-market Phoenix Market City, and her interview is as honest as the person she is. With fans all over, taking time out to give an interview was a tough task indeed. But it went on rather smoothly.
