Dear readers, I don’t know what the future holds. I’d like to think that by the time you read this column everything is back to normal and we are back in the pubs and restaurants, congregating in parks and on the beaches and shaking hands with everyone we pass in the street. Right now, we are on lockdown, along with the rest of the country.
Apart from the worry about loved ones and the frustrations with work, I am actually finding some benefits to the sudden cessation of my regular routine. For a start I am beginning to finally empty my cupboards of all the packets of pasta and tins of tomatoes I’ve been hoarding for years. The only food items I worry about running out of are wine and coffee.
