NEW CRIME DRAMA
Dalgliesh Thu & Fri, Channel 5 HD, 9pm
PD James’ most famous detective, DCI Adam Dalgliesh, has previously been brought to the screen by Roy Marsden and Martin Shaw. Now, Doctor Foster’s Bertie Carvel gives his take on the poetry-writing sleuth in Channel 5’s new adaptation of James’ bestselling crime novels.
Set in the 1970s, the six-part series – airing as one two-part story each week – centres on the cerebral Metropolitan Police detective as he investigates three cases, beginning with a grisly death at a training college for nurses in Shroud for a Nightingale (see box, right).
