YES, I KILLED HIM: SURETHA'S LETTER FROM PRISON

SHE spent eight months in a prison cell before she was sentenced to 25 years for masterminding the killing of her husband – and shortly before she was sentenced, she poured out her heart on several sheets of paper, admitting she’d been behind Leon Brits’ murder and how she would forever regret it. “I made the biggest mistake of my life taking the law into my own hands,” Suretha Brits (31), who entered a plea bargain with the state, writes. “To all my family and most importantly my children, I’m incredibly sorry.”

Suretha recently pleaded guilty to the murder of Brits (41), a hotelier and part-time farmer from Pofadder, and was sentenced to 25 years behind bars. Brits’ gruesome death rocked the Northern Cape town and made national headlines – especially after the attractive Suretha was arrested in connection with it.

He was stabbed in the chest and found floating in the swimming pool at their house.

Suretha’s letter, written days before she admitted her guilt in court, has been revealed exclusively to YOU. In it, she says the Leon everyone knew and liked wasn’t the man she was married to.

Her years of hell took such a toll on her that she finally hired Jacques van Vuuren (34) in September last year to kill her husband. Van Vuuren and his alleged accomplices, Erich Williams (34) and Amantle Bareki (24), were arrested shortly after the killing. Jacques turned state witness and identified Suretha as the mastermind. In March he was sentenced to 20 years in jail. The trials of Williams and Bareki are pending.

This is Suretha’s side of the story.
