She’s conquering Hollywood and Bollywood, one hit at a time. She loves all-things vintage, and is yet to go on that ‘perfect first date’ and be swept off her feet. Meet Nimrat Kaur.
IF THERE’S A WORD that defines Nimrat Kaur, it’s ‘unconventional’. Hailing from an army family background, she had none of that star-kid support. She’s also breathtakingly beautiful but not in a supermodel-botox-way. Her choice of roles isn’t what any other leading Bollywood lady would have the courage to take on. From a lonely housewife to a Pakistani Intelligence officer, and a beautician in a post-apocalyptic world, Kaur has pretty much broken all barriers. Even when it comes to the hunt for the ‘one’, she’s clear she won’t settle for anything mundane or predictable. All these reasons and more, is what made Nimrat and AM:PM’s debut couture collection in our cover and cover story a match made in heaven. We chatted with this new-age beauty on career, romance, and secret Hollywood crushes.
NIMRAT SPEAKS
LET’S TALK ABOUT THIS YEAR. HOW’S IT BEEN FOR YOU?
It’s really, really been a blast. Airlift released in January 2016 and was received really well by critics and audiences. Two weeks later, my sister got married and literally two weeks after that, I left for Canada to start shooting Wayward Pines. Which was another learning experience since I had never worked in the science fiction genre before. So yeah, basically it’s been a whirlwind. I was there for five months shooting and then visiting my family.
