From fabulous face jewellery to ultra-violet eye make-up, this season’s beauty looks are artistic, experimental and creative
For years, the spring/summer catwalk was a predictable affair beauty-wise: fresh-faced and free of color. But this season is shaping up to be a melting pot of punky hues and vibes. Simplicity is still there, of course, but toughness is back in a big way, with make-up artists ditching nude shades for purples and Kohl, and employing all manner of face accessories to serve up some seriously ’gram-worthy trends.
As if that wasn’t exciting enough, we’ve teamed up with BBC Three’s Glow-Up, an eight-part competition to look for the next big make-up star. The series will see a talented cast of hopefuls live and work together as they attempt to prove their potential to industry professionals – starting with this shoot. With regular eliminations, the challenges will not only test their skills under pressure but also give them the opportunity to show their creative vision and artistry with jaw-dropping results. Lisa Oxenham judged the first episode alongside make-up artists Dominic Skinner and Val Garland and invited the winner on the set of this shoot. Check out her amazing look on page 131.
