The brand behind the blue box is all set to enter India. Reed Krakoff, Tiffany & Co.’s chief artistic officer, talks to Rishna Shah about how he handles the heritage of the 183-year-old jewellery house

When you think of Tiffany, you think of the colour blue. A blue so iconic that it has its own trademark and Pantone number. But beyond the popular packaging, the brand is also known for having some of the most famous clients in the world. When pop star Ariana Grande wanted to buy presents for her best friends, she went to Tiffany’s and bought seven diamond rings. She even sang about it in the hit single ‘7 rings’. “It was a great moment,” says Reed Krakoff, the brand’s chief artistic officer, “to have a woman buying something for herself and all her girlfriends; a modern take on the classic Breakfast At Tiffany’s.” For the last three years, Krakoff (whose résumé includes over a decade at Coach) has been running the show and filling blue boxes with his refreshing designs. The company also made news for its recent acquisition by luxe giant LVMH for a whopping US$16.2 billion. Vogue finds out more.
