The above statement given by the marketing head of Adobe (an American computer software company) is the perfect encapsulation of today’s online era. Customers and consumers of almost every industry are “logged in” to the vast space of the internet where they are continually reading, commenting, and engaging with companies. This deep connection between the sellers and their consumers has two distinct merits. Firstly, the consumers can publicly voice their concerns and praise towards the seller, and if they aren’t satisfied, they can move over to another seller as there are innumerable choices. Secondly, for the seller/company, they can get crystal clear information about what their target audience/consumers want or feel about their services/products. They can change their operations accordingly to suit the requirements of their customers. India, in 2019, is looking at potential 627 million internet users as per a report by The Economic Times. One of the reasons for this is the large scale penetration of the internet in rural areas. A living report said that there are around 200 million internet users in rural India. Due to such astounding numbers, organizations not only should but HAVE TO adopt digital strategies in their operations or risk their growth opportunities. Let’s take one example each of the companies that integrated digital strategies and ones who didn’t so we have a better understanding.
