As your belly grows through pregnancy, you will most likely notice changes with your breast/chest. In addition to the darkening of your areolas, your breast/chest will grow too! Your body is priming your glandular tissue for milk production once your baby is born. Some may grow just a bit, while others may go up multiple cup sizes.
Amanda Hunt
Founder Of Davin & Adley.
The company offers beautiful nursing bras you actually want to wear (think lace accents and gold hardware) plus an innovative one-piece nursing liner!
According to Amanda, another great tip is to make sure you purchase a bra with room to grow. When you are pregnant your cup size grows around 1 cup size and when your breast milk comes in, often another cup size or more. It's hard to figure out a cup and band bra size when you are still growing. Selecting a bra a little looser with additional room for growth in a stretch fabric will allow you to wear it for a longer period of time. Bras with adjustable straps can also help you find the right fit.
Selecting a bralette over an underwire bra is a good idea if you plan to breastfeed. Underwire bras restrict the milk ducts and often cause clogged ducts. This is a huge issue for breastfeeding moms, so we always recommend a soft and stretchy wireless bra. Maternity, nursing, and pumping camis are another great option for some support without too much compression on the breast tissue.
If you are trying to hold off on spending money on getting a bra until absolutely necessary, there are bra band extenders that can prolong your bra's use.
