LFL All-Star Tai Emeery
What sports did you play at a young age?
I played touch football, tennis, track and field, rugby union, volleyball pretty much anything that was thrown at me. When I was super young Wally Lewis was my favorite rugby league player he was the king and played in the era when football was still muddy, bloody and grimy. These days I get a lot of influence from friends and athlete I train around who have been apart or still are playing in the NFL. They understand my mentality, drive and passion.
Which football players influence you?
Football is in the blood with my family as my Father played. I played with a football before even having toys.
When did you first start to show an interest in Football?
I grew up watching rugby league and union. I learned to play touch football from the age of 9 years old onwards and played rugby union for 3 seasons in Gladstone. I was introduced to American Football in 2013 when getting into LFL except for what I had seen in movies boots back on.
What made you decided to join LFL?
I decided to get into the sport after having a friend bring me down to a team training session. It re-ignited something within me that had been missing for many years. I was hooked from the instant I pulled my boots back on.
Which players/coach did you enjoy working with?
My Australian team of coaches has been the best I have worked with so far. They were young athletes themselves with innovative and fresh ideas. Training sessions, camps, film study, assignments, playbooks were run well with detail. Each coach had a way to connect with the players and pull everything together.
