Carpe Diem – Seize the Day

As the year is drawing to a close, my mind went back to the end of the previous year, wherein I had eagerly looked forward to the arrival of 2021, hoping the year would bring freedom from COVID-19 worries.

With a far more fatal second wave hitting us during the summer of 2021 and with the virus still looming large both on the minds of people and in the atmosphere even today, I am slowly realizing that we have to learn to live with the virus – not only with COVID-19 but perhaps many more such unexpected and unknown nemeses in the future.

That made me rethink about the way I looked at the passing of the years. While the year has various seasons, it has three hundred and sixth-five days of almost unvarying kind. Each day the Sun rises in the East and sets in the West. Each day brings in its wake the promise and allure of innumerable new possibilities. Every day is new and fresh, if we can prevent ourselves from bringing the baggage of the past into it. If we can look at each day with a pair of new eyes, perhaps anything is possible.
