Anna picked up her hook and yarn many years after she first learned and set about teaching herself and enhancing her skills as much as possible. It wasn’t until she was working for Rowan Yarns that she had the courage to publish her designs and also train as a tutor too. It was a joy to find out about her design process, how her love for teaching is growing with every class and the unexpected bonus of not being able to teach in person.

CROCHET THAT UNITES

As I’m sure lots of us did, Anna learned to crochet as a child following in the crafty footsteps of her mum who was an amazing crocheter and knitter. At the time though, Anna freely admits that she didn’t appreciate the skills taught to her and it wasn’t until her mum passed away 15 years ago that she decided to pick up knitting and crochet again. “This was my way of feeling close to her and it really evoked all the special times we spent together when she was teaching me,” Anna tells me, which is something many of us can relate to. Crochet seems to have that magic way of connecting you with a person, place or feeling and it’s no wonder we love it so much.
