When you buy a hilly seaside property filled with towering coniferous trees, it stands to reason that you also need a tree house. At least that was the perspective of George and Carol Tillery. The couple turned to Seattle-based White Space Design Group and lead designer Amy Pagano, who designed their former home in California, to oversee the interiors of their new home in a suburb of Seattle—and, across a deep ravine, the construction of a guesthouse. Tucked in the branches of a group of Douglas firs and cedar trees, fifteen feet off the ground, the latter would overlook Whidbey Island and the Salish Sea.
