A palette of soft greens, inspired by the surrounding countryside, provides a cohesive backdrop for Naomi Jones’s colourful possessions

Being surrounded by colour at home is really important to me,’ says interiors writer and stylist Naomi Jones. The two-bedroom Kentish home she shares with her husband Dan Turner, a TV journalist, and their daughter Lillie-Mae is indeed evidence of her fondness for vibrant shades: a triptych of skateboards over the fireplace, graphic artwork in the study and kitchen and framed maps in the bedroom all play their part to liven up the walls, while rows of hardback books, an assortment of cushions and vases of freshly cut flowers from the garden add more easily changeable pops of colour.

SHADES OF GREEN

Offering a cohesive backdrop to the couple’s varied collections, however, is a simple palette made up of the same off-white, with feature walls painted in various shades of just one colour: green. ‘It was important to both of us to unify all the rooms in some way,’ says Naomi, ‘and colour is an effective way to do that. We have beautiful countryside close by and we’re lucky to have a lovely garden, so we chose to put touches of green in every room to reflect the tranquil outdoor views.’
