THERE’S SO MUCH CHARACTER TO VINTAGE DÉCOR and elegance associated with French style, that when blended together, they make a magical combination. While it’s easy to create a French or vintage look when you live in a historic home, you can also set the mood in a modern home with the right touches.

When author and photographer Jamie Lundstrom moved into her home in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, she knew it wasn’t ideal, but she got to work on remodeling the 1980s-era home by working with a contractor. While the three-story, townhouse-style home didn’t come with the original details Jamie prefers, like crown molding, she revamped everything in modern fi nishes with a classic twist, such as subway tile in the kitchen, basket-weave tile in the bathroom, and door handles and hardware with vintage character to create a cozy, chic look. “I went with modern, clean lines because it fit the house, but it still has a French vintage feel,” Jamie says. It’s no surprise that Jamie named her blog So Much Better with Age, and she has a book coming out soon too about creating a French vintage look. In it, she details the process of how she brought her signature style to every aspect of her home.
