FLOORS THAT FLOW
Flooring plays a vital role in linking spaces and creating that smooth flow. FINfloor SA’s Shannon Tchetchik says: “If you want to create a sense of flow to the outdoors, you should extend the floor to the exterior, which draws the eye out and makes the area appear larger. Ensure that tiles used outside are suitable for use in any weather. Also, the grout should be the same colour for an uninterrupted look.”
Selecting from the same tile range or colour are also worthy of consideration, advises Italtile’s Nicole Russell.
“You would need to identify the room’s purpose and consider the foot traffic. For example, the kitchen and corridor areas will have more foot traffic than the living room – so when selecting tiles, you could get a more scratch-resistant tile option for high-traffic areas.
“For the indoors, look at slip-resistant options, as these create a seamless aesthetic while still providing safety.”
