Mosaics And Tiles With Style

With this being the perfect time to update your bathroom, we decided to speak to experts to give us tips on how to kick-start your remodel using the latest tiles and mosaics.

MARVELLOUS MOSAICS

Popular since ancient times, mosaics are still a growing trend, says Nicole Russell, marketing manager at Italtile. “Small mosaic pattern pieces are held together on a net/sheet. They can be made out of glass, metal, stone, real pebbles and porcelain.

“Mosaics can be used in both kitchens and bathrooms creating a feature wall. Using them can be cost-effective and low-maintenance, and look amazing.”

Kitty Douglas-Jones, managing director of Douglas Jones, says: “They have been popular for centuries and are found in beautiful buildings throughout Europe and Spain. Mosaics bring art and interest into the home. They are a great way to bring colour into your bathroom.

“It is a good idea to use colours that are calming and peaceful to the person or family sharing this space. For example, red may be peaceful to one person, while green or blue will have the same effect on someone else. It is a personal choice.”

White and black subway tiles will always be in fashion, she says. Right now bigger-format subway tiles are also very popular, as are digitally printed mosaics. These are not new, but they seem to be very trendy at the moment.
