The pride of PRETORIA

There are many elements that define contemporary architecture, from clean lines and open-plan spaces to the use of natural materials and light. However the cutting edge architectural design of this home, situated in an affluent estate of Pretoria East, visually showcases it all.

Having admired the architectural firm’s work for some time, the home owner knew exactly what he wanted and who he wanted to work with when it came to building a dream home for his family.

“We followed Nico van der Meulen Architects for a while and loved their work, and when the time came for us to build our dream home, there was no better architect to execute our vision than this family.”

To suit their lifestyle, the owner wanted a spacious living environment that was contemporary in aesthetics.

Speaking for itself, the architecture is simply captivating, with an exterior that boasts natural stone cladding, glass and rusted steel panels, which frame the openings of the façade. Commenting on the exterior, the owner says: “The design is spectacular and what I love most is how the exterior was made – it’s just so unique.”

Embracing its location, the home has been designed to savour the indoor-outdoor living experience with majestic Highveld views at every turn.

The living area, which is situated on the ground floor, opens up to a beautiful lanai that features an entertainment area as well as an inviting pool and jetted hot tub. This is a space that’s perfect for both hosting guests and having a quiet night in.
