Opulent Spaces!

What are your views on India’s current market scene in the furnishing segment? How has it evolved over the years?

With rapidly increasing disposable income in hand, high aspirations of young Indians to improve their lifestyle, international exposure through travel and media and a huge population of 1.28 billion people; India is today a global marketers’ dream destination. The upper-middle class and aspirational middle class are now well-versed with trends and are thus ready to consume a variety of international products. Home textiles, furnishings and home decor categories are no exception. Over the years, we at D’Decor have witnessed a significant change in the perception of redoing a house. Earlier, one used to revamp or redo their house very rarely or only during a special occasion, but nowadays, getting a makeover done for one’s home has become more common.

Decorating a house and the ambiance of a room has now become an extension of one’s personality and represents a person’s different traits, habits, likes and tastes. Hence, people these days look out for specific home decor products and accessories as per a curated look they have in mind. Instead, of redoing the entire room, people like to redecorate by changing their furnishings and home accessories, as this provides a quick change in the look and vibe of the room at a lesser cost. This change in perception of home decor and furnishings has led to the increase in the demand for furnishing, interior and decor projects, niche decor elements, trend based designs, special fabrics, etc.

Current furnishing trends hint more towards contemporary and clean designs. Please comment.

Minimalism is a trend that is slowly gaining popularity, as people have begun to gravitate towards de-cluttered spaces and sleek designs.
