Fashion is working on pushing the boundaries for climate change and sustainability. But how far are they pushing for representation and inclusivity?

Inclusivity And Diversity In Fashion Is Now A Movement

DANIEL BOEY IS NO STRANGER to the fashion industry, local and global. From the likes of Vivienne Westwood to Christian Dior, the Godfather of Singapore fashion-as he is affectionally deemed-is an acclaimed creative and fashion director who has had his hands in almost every inspired, cutting-edge, and ground-breaking idea.

Those new to the veteran will recognise him purely from his presence on the inaugural cycle of Asia’s Next Top Model as the resident fashion director and judge. If the endless number of accolades isn’t enough, Daniel has taken fashion digital with his second season of The Front Row, this time inviting viewers to a front seat into the world of inclusivity and responsible fashion. The virtual festival featured a lineup of on-demand virtual fashion shows, podcasts, and interviews from expert industry heavyweights and fashion creatives. Aside from the focus on fashion as a conscious effort for the future, the campaign’s ethos is centred around inclusivity and diversity with aims of bringing together Singaporean faces of tomorrow’s fashion and culture. The campaign is fronted by Singapore’s very own supermodel, Diya Prabhakar who has graced the runways of Paris, Milan, and New York to name a few, as well as Lisa Van Duren, and Alexis Cooke who represent a new breed of models defying the conventional standards of body type in the fashion world.

Daniel sees the need to emphasise on inclusivity and diversity, especially due to many an ongoing discourse about racial and gender inclusivity happening worldwide, such as last year’s Black Lives Matter protests. To him it is a pressing issue and a conversation that simply cannot wait to be a trend for another season.
