Gone are the days when the men were the only ones to get down on one knee to ask that all important question. The tables have turned with girls now taking the lead.
In December 2018, Pinterest reported that searches for “women propose to men ideas” have been up by 336%. Even the New York Post published a piece on women proposing to their boyfriends being the latest #MeToo culture shift.
However, this trend has a long way to go to Sri Lanka as the cultural forces around us have set many limitations as to why the girl should not do the asking. Did you know that an old Irish tradition allowed women the opportunity to propose to men only on February 29 of a leap year?
