When she made her acting debut in the Kannada film Aishwarya, nobody thought that this stunning superstar would one day go on to rule millions of hearts. Her Career Path : From Om Shanti Om to Padmavati
Born in Denmark to Prakash Padukone and Ujjala Padukone, Deepika was brought up in Bangalore where the family had shifted when she was a year old. She was a competitive badminton player from a very young age and her entire life revolved around the same. In an interview Deepika had said, "I want to say to every girl and every boy and every woman and every man...play a sport...because it changed my life...and it will change yours too! Sport has taught me how to survive! It has taught me how to fight! It has made me unstoppable.”
It was in her late teens that she realized that she wanted to be a fashion model instead. She soon became a very successful fashion model and was awarded the "Model Of The Year" by Kingfisher. She was then selected as one of the cover girls of the Kingfisher Swimsuit Calender 2006. Deepika went on to feature in Himesh Reshammiya's music song, Naam Hai Tera which is where she was noticed by Farah Khan and casted her in Om Shanti Om. Deepika's Bollywood debut film, Om Shanti Om, was a huge commercial success. At the annual Filmfare Awards ceremony, she was awarded the Best Female Debut Award and received her first nomination in the Best Actress category. She then went on to do Love Aaj Kaal, Karthik Calling Karthik, Lafangey Parindey, Break Ke Baad, Arakshan, Cocktail, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, Piku among others.
