1. YOU IGNORE WARNING SIGNS
You may be so used to your car’s quirks that you ignore the little squeaks and rattles. But these are signs that something is wearing out or about to cease soon. An ‘I’ll fix it when I have time’ mentality can mean your vehicle breaks down at the most inopportune time, so rather have any sounds or quirks checked out as soon as you notice them.
2. YOU REST YOUR HAND ON THE GEAR STICK
Resting your hand on the gear stick places weight on the transmission’s bushings and synchronisers, causing internal wear. Keep both hands on the steering wheel until you need to switch gears.
