Beachy bachelorette A 30-A getaway was the last hooray for a Delta bride.

Jane Spivey Mortimer and Brandon David Nicholson grew up in neighboring Mississippi Delta towns, Jane in Greenwood and Brandon in Greenville. “We actually dated each other’s friends in high school. That is how we became friends in the first place!” she says. When the two later attended Mississippi State University, their friendship blossomed into romance.

After college, the couple began their careers, with Brandon focusing on agriculture in Mississippi, and Jane following her dream job in fashion to the Florida panhandle. Knowing that they wanted to spend forever together, Brandon took the next step and proposed to Jane on May 25, 2019, at Jane’s family’s beach condo in Perdido Key, Florida.

“It was a huge surprise,” Jane admits. “He proposed to me on the beach by the waves. He made the proposal so intimate, unique, and special for us. It felt like it was exactly where we were supposed to be—a dream come true! When we got back to the condo after he proposed, I was surprised by all of my best friends and our families who were there to celebrate the whole weekend with us. It was evident that he is the one that God made for me.”
