My journey in this industry began in the 1980s. I was very fortunate to have an ace teacher in hairdressing. Learning hairdressing was so much interesting then as we had no mannequin heads, all the training including cuts, colour, styling and perms were done on friends and family. Education has been a integral part of the journey and till date I have been studying, there is always something new to learn, there is always higher levels to achieve. This has taken me to the level that I am a jury for the world championships. Seen the fantastic skills and presentations at the OMC Hairworld championship in Paris, my thought have been that we have so many hairstyles in India however there is no awareness by Indians or the hairdressers worldwide about our hairstyling.

I began searching for Indian hairstyles on the internet and to my surprise there was nothing beyond simple three strand braids and a classic bun that's when I decided to do my research and write a book on Indian Hairstyling.

I authored and self published an educational book on Indian hairstyling in 2018, 'Art of Indian Coiffures,' my biggest contribution to the industry, where I have shared my experience and research covering hairstyles since 500 BC to today's contemporary Indian bridal hairstyles.

Two decades ago I had visited the Chennakeshava temple, a 12th century Vishnu temple in Belur, Karnataka. I vividly remember the tour guide showing us around the temple and explaining how each sculpture had a unique and different hairstyle. I was so inspired, we are not even aware of such hairstyles or trying to preserve this rich heritage.

I realized it was not practical to have a photographer following me on my quest throughout India. So I studied photography and picked up the camera myself.
