India is a country where traditions have existed side by side with modern technological advances. In fact, the character of modern India is firmly rooted in a rich cultural past. This feature is especially evident in our ancient herbal healing system of Ayurveda, which has continued to ourish through centuries to this day. In fact, scientific research supports the empirical knowledge contained in Ayurvedic texts. Today, herbs, ower and fruit extracts, essential oils and other natural substances are used for skin and hair treatments.
Amla (Embelica officinalis): Amla is one of the most popular ingredients in hair care. It is said to be the richest source of Vitamin C and in fact, it is said to be so stable, that it is resistant to heat. A natural antioxidant, it is also known to prevent greying and hair loss. Amla has been used in hair oils, packs and shampoos, as it helps to restore the normal pH balance of the scalp.
Neem (Azardirachta Indica): Also known as Margosa, Neem is valued in Ayurveda as a ‘natural antibiotic’. The Neem leaf infusions are used to cure diseases of the skin and scalp and relieve itching, soothe rashes and clear inflammatory conditions. Neem contains organic sulphur compounds, which have a powerful and versatile healing action. Neem is an ingredient in hair oils, cleansers and packs.
