Hossan Leong may be staging his last one-man comedy show next month, but he tells Hong Xinyi he is definitely not retiring
Hossan Leong turns 50 this year, but you wouldn’t know it from looking at his still-boyish demeanor. Nevertheless, the milestone has this versatile entertainer thinking hard about what he would like to focus on in the next phase of his career.
Last year, while filming Grisse, an HBO Asia series shot in Batam, he got a bacterial infection that resulted in him being hospitalized for 10 days while doctors figured out the right antibiotics for him. Surviving that health scare was one reason he decided to stage the Hossan-AH 50! – Love You Leong Time! comedy show, which will run at the Drama Centre Theatre from August 14 to 31.
“One day you can be on top of the world, and the next day you can be in the hospital and not even know what’s wrong with you,” he says. “That experience was one big push factor for doing this show, which will be about gratitude. I want to thank my family, friends, and fans for sticking with me through thick and thin.”
