What do you think about the Government’s decision to demonitise the Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes? What will be the impact on the economy?
I whole heartedly welcome the decision to demonetise the notes. I believe that it took guts and a mastermind to take such a decision and act upon it with precision without leaving any loopholes for the guilty parties. Mr. Modi has planned and executed it with sheer precision which as a businessman I would say a class act. This act will definitely eradicate the black money menace which has been haunting our country for years. SURAJ CACULO, Businessman
It is a brilliant and a bold move by the prime minister which will help to curb the parallel economy, bring down inflation and real estate prices and destroy counterfeit currency. I welcome such a move. I think the common man will be the biggest beneficiary. SHRINIVAS DEMPO, Businessman
The step is a positive one. However, it will have an affect on those without bank accounts which is a worry. It will impact many businesses, such as real estate, the most. Goa being a tourist state and considering the next two months is the peak season, we hoteliers will face a lot of hurdles.
While there will be short term difficulties, the Government did its job. Nw it is our turn to do our bit. We just need to educate people around us that Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes are not junk from tomorrow. We have till 30th December to exchange them at the banks. JAYDEEP RAJEBHOSALE, Founder Marbela Beach Resort
It’s a revolutionary and gutsy move. It will bring the hidden currency back into the economy. A move that will wipe out fake currency and help the common honest man. SIDHARTH KUNCALIENKER, MLA, Panjim
