Ginger Nuts!

When my son Mark got two kittens from a nearby farm back in 2007, I was eager to meet the latest additions to the family.

‘They’re lovely,’ I told Mark, 40, as I fussed over them.

They both had beautiful ginger markings and were immediately affectionate, brushing up against my legs as I sat on the sofa.

Mark decided to name them Bob and Archie.

Staying at Mark’s that night my husband, Andy, 67, and I were just drifting off to sleep when the lively brothers burst in through the bedroom door and started to play.

‘Out you get!’ I laughed, shooing them back out. Every time we stayed at Mark’s they kept us all entertained.

But when they were just two years old, Bob, the most affectionate out of the pair, went missing.

‘I haven’t seen him in days’ Mark said sadly, when he called one evening.

‘Cats wander off all the time,’ I reassured.

‘He’ll show up.’

But after nearly two weeks, there was still no sign of him.

Mark had been out searching, asked neighbours, put up posters, been to rescue centres and contacted nearby vets to see if Bob had possibly been handed in.
