The Quick-Step Floors' Classics specialist on cars, climbs and Belgian fans
What is your favourite race?
The Tour of Flanders, and of course Paris-Roubaix, but maybe I prefer Flanders more. It’s the atmosphere: Belgians live for the race. In the bakeries they have special cakes in the theme of Flanders – it’s crazy and everyone is talking about it. It gives something really special to the race.
What’s your favourite climb?
I don’t have a favourite climb! I will say the Soller and Sa Calobra in Majorca. I train on these often, partly because I live there. It makes me happy when I can climb the Soller or Sa Calobra. With the views, they are really beautiful climbs. I know my times on the climb, and then it’s nice because you can check if the shape is there or if there’s more work to do.
