Moses Rules On Right Side

Morgan Moses is not the anchor of the Washington Redskins offensive line. He’s one of two. Trent Williams mans the left side, but the fourth-year, mammoth 6 feet-5, 330-pound (give or take) Moses is helping secure the boat on the right side.

At one point, Moses was thought to be a first-round pick out of Virginia. He wound up a 2014 third rounder, instead.

His rookie year was largely a mess. On the field, Moses was overmatched at times and his foundation was off-balance. Then he was injured in December and missed the rest of the year due to a Lisfranc foot dislocation.

An injury “that was probably the best thing that ever happened to me” as Moses puts it. “I couldn’t walk for six months so I sort of fell off the face of the earth.”

Moses went down to Bommarito’s in South Florida for his rehab and dug deep into an important book, saying, “I was studying my playbook for an hour-anda-half a day. When I got back on the field, I didn’t want to be that person that was in-between plays or didn’t know what the right play was.”

Moses rehab lasted much of the offseason as he healed and strengthened his foot, but it was that mental side of the game that the tackle worked on most.

“You are going to give up sacks against the best of the best,” he said, “but I needed to grow off the field. It allowed me to mature as a person.”
