Round Four: Wayne Gallman

It would appear NJ Transit will not be the only ones with trains coming into MetLife Stadium this fall, since the New York Giants will be fielding one on the field this season following their fourth-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Round Four: Wayne Gallman

With the 140th overall pick, their first selection on the draft’s final day, the Giants selected a national champion, taking RB Wayne Gallman, who went by the nickname “Train” at Clemson University. It’s the second year in a row the Giants have taken a former Tiger in the fourth round after LB BJ Goodson last year.

“At first I thought it was a little corny,” Gallman said with a laugh when asked about his nickname, which was bestowed upon him by Clemson running backs coach Tony Elliott. “(But then) they ended up giving me a train sound whenever I scored or made a big run in (Memorial Stadium), so I kind of just went along with it.”

When it came to selecting Gallman, Giants head coach Ben McAdoo was, simply put, all aboard.

“He comes from a winning program, (and) had a tremendous interview,” McAdoo said. “(He also) provides a spark and change of pace. He has a lot of upside.”
