Trio Receives Giant Honor
Throughout his tenure as head coach of the New York Giants, Tom Coughlin was in constant pressure of having his name removed from the organization.
On Nov. 14, he earned a spot in the Giants organization from where no one can remove him.
During halftime of the Giants 21-20 Monday Night Football win over the Cincinnati Bengals, Coughlin, along with former general manager Ernie Accorsi and defensive lineman Justin Tuck, were inducted in the Giants Ring of Honor, becoming the 40th, 41st and 42nd names to enter MetLife Stadium lore.
Each was on hand to personally accept the honor in a ceremony hosted by 2010 Ring inductee and Pro Football Hall-of-Famer Michael Strahan, who had played during both the Accorsi and Coughlin tenures, and starred alongside Tuck on the field.
Accorsi, the Giants general manager from 1998- 2007, was honored first, becoming the second Giants GM, joining George Young, to enter Big Blue immortality, a fact that was not lost on Accorsi.
“One of the things that means so much to me is to be up there with George Young,” Accorsi said. “If it would not have been for George Young, I wouldn’t have been here.”
