The Estranged Couple’s Recent Détente Is Hard-won — and Extremely Fragile
 

The latest buzz on Hollywood’s most high-profile divorce is that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have finally started talking again, the ice between them almost completely thawed. But OK! sources reveal that this development is hardly new — and their rapport is not quite as friendly as is being reported.

“Angie and Brad have actually been in direct contact as far back as January,” a source close to the estranged exes explains. “At that point, things were extremely volatile and Angie was unraveling at the seams. She’d call Brad saying she loved him and missed him, then suddenly fly off the handle and hang up after a storm of insults. Then she’d call back to apologize!” Sometimes, the source adds, she’d call as many as 20 times in a single day.
