Reviving The Glory Of Bharatiya Education

After Independence, the education system remained as a continuation from the British era. The earnest focus of the government to implement the nep, 2020 will go a long way in reviving our ancient educational glory

Education in India remained neglected during the first six decades of British rule. Later, the British aimed not only for territorial conquest and revenue control but also began to concentrate on the cultural mission to civilise the Indians which they proudly called the "White man's Burden".

In the earlier days, education was received by attending Gurukulams and it was open to all. With the changes in the social structure, it was imparted based on varna and the nature of the job. All the prevailing system of Indian education was changed with the introduction of the British system of education.

CHEMPIL ARAYAN

Chempil Anantha Padmanabhan Valiya Arayan Kankumaran, Velu Thampi Dalawa's chief was the first person to respond to the call of the proclamation and was martyred in the struggle against the British. Chempil Arayan’s courage was not momentary and various exploits of valour have been noted. He is credited with having broken into the British resident, Col. Colin Macaulay's premises at Ponjikara. Chempil Arayan tried to save the lives of his fellow countrymen who were imprisoned by the British. He was taken prisoner and condemned to be hung for treason. Allegations were heaped on him, but no torture seemed to shake the Chempil Arayan. This narrow escape from the gallows did not diminish the courage of Chempil Anantha Padmanabhan Valiya Arayan Kankumaran. According to his descendants, he again responded to the call to stand up against tyranny by sacrificing his life on December 29, 1808.
