Bard To Worse For Johnson...

Government officials fear Dominic Cummings will tell MPs that Boris Johnson skipped emergency Covid meetings to write a Shakespeare biography, it was claimed yesterday.

Insiders believe the ex-Downing Street aide could use a blockbuster evidence session in Parliament this week to take bitter revenge on his former boss.

They fear he will claim the Prime Minister wanted to write the Bard’s life story to fund his divorce settlement.

The Conservative leader’s former top aide, who left No10 in November after losing a power struggle at the heart of Government, is due to appear before the Commons Health and Science Select Committees on Wednesday.

Mr Johnson missed five key COBRA meetings as the virus first began to grip the country, it has been reported.

The claim he needed to write the Shakespeare book to fund his divorce from second wife Marina Wheeler came in yesterday’s Sunday Times.

Other fears about Mr Cummings’ evidence centre on what he will reveal about the decision, at the start of the crisis, to move patients from hospitals into care homes without them having to test negative for Covid-19.
