THE Home Office is facing calls to shut an asylum seeker accommodation centre after a High Court judge said its conditions all but guaranteed a Covid outbreak among residents.

Mr Justice Linden made the comments as six men once housed at Napier Barracks won a legal fight over “squalid” conditions and a lack of coronavirus prevention measures.

Almost 200 residents caught the virus in an outbreak this year, as we reported in February.

Sarah Teather, of the Jesuit Refugee Service UK, blasted the site in Folkestone, Kent, as “unsafe”, adding: “People have told us they don’t feel human residing at Napier.”
